Do I Need a Cookie Banner if I Don't Use Cookies?

Cookies are small JavaScript files stored on your device or browser by websites to remember information about you. They can track your Personal Information like your online settings and behavior, login information, preferences, shopping cart contents, etc.

privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, VCDPA, and others, regulate the collection and management of website users' Personal Information. Businesses must obtain cookie consent from users to collect and process users' personal information. The most common way to get Cookie Consent to use cookies and collect users' personal data is through a Cookie Banner.

If you have a simple website, which does not use cookies and you do not collect website users' personal information, you are not obliged to have a Cookie Banner. However, even if you do not use cookies, you may use thirt-party services, such as Google AdSense or Google Analytics, which use cookies. These cookies on your website are called third-party cookies. If your website uses third-party cookies, you need a Cookie Banner. Thus, to be on the safe side to comply with the privacy laws, it is recommended to have a Cookie Banner.
